It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Alex Edward Haas, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left this world on March 20, 2025, at the age of 70, in Floresville, Texas. Born on June 19, 1954, in San Antonio, Texas, Alex's life was a testament to kindness, generosity, and a bit of mischief that brought joy to all who knew him.
Alex was the cherished son of Alex Edward Haas Sr. and Virginia Mary Haas, who have preceded him in death. He was a proud graduate of Texas A&M University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 1976.
On August 14, 1982, Alex married the love of his life, Ann Haas, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter. Their union was blessed with three wonderful children: Allen Haas and his wife Hannah, Martha Yosko and her husband Wesley, and Sarah Vergel de Dios and her husband Ramon. Alex's legacy lives on through his six adored grandchildren: Alice and Xander Haas, Brenden and Andrew Yosko, and Noah and Catalina Vergel de Dios. Each of them will carry fond memories of their grandfather's warmth and playful spirit.
He is also survived by his siblings: Cathy Hefner and her husband Lloyd, Carol Haas, and Gary Haas and his wife Angel, along with many nieces and nephews who will forever cherish their memories with him.
Alex had a passion for fishing, building model airplanes, and photographing life’s moments, always with an eye for capturing the joy that surrounded him. His love for nature and creativity brought happiness not only to himself but also to all those fortunate enough to share in his interests.
His kindness and giving nature extended beyond his family, touching the lives of friends and community members alike. Alex was known for his ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued, always ready with a helping hand or a listening ear.
A funeral service to honor Alex's life will be held on March 31, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Moulton, Texas. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate the remarkable life of a man who will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Alex's memory to Sacred Heart Catholic School in Floresville.
Alex Edward Haas leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and resilience, and though he may no longer walk among us, his spirit will continue to inspire us every day. Rest in peace, dear Alex. You will always be in our hearts.
