A.D. Vinklarek, age 85 passed away on Saturday April 7, 2018. Alexander was born May 13, 1932 in Cistern, Texas to Alexander Sr. and. Frances (Mares) Vinklarek. He is an Army and Korean Veteran. A.D. is a member of the St. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Cistern. A.D. is survived by; son Scott A. Vinklarek; son Russell D. Vinklarek and wife Pam; daughter Sandra Cherry and husband John; sisters Alexia Vinklarek, Edna Migl and Gladys Holub; grandchildren Kendall Cherry, Grayson Cherry, Alexa Cherry and Brooke Vinklarek. Alexander was preceded in death by his parents, wife Gloria Vinklarek; infant sons Bruce Vinklarek and Randall Vinklarek; one brother, and four sisters. A visitation for Alexander will be held Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 12:00 PM with a rosary following at 7:00pm at Smith Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral mass will occur Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Cistern with Father Eddie Winkler officiating. Burial will follow at the Cistern Catholic Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Rick Herbrich, Luke Sternadel, Tim Harmon, Darrell Urban, Al Bauer and Paul Martin. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Alexander's memory may be made to St. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, 113 Manchester St., Flatonia, Texas 78941; and TurtleWing Foundation, 723 Upton Ave, PO Box 631, Schulenburg, Texas 78956.
