Alice Anna Lewis, Koncaba, a devoted mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026, in Houston, Texas. Born on July 12, 1936, in Lavaca County, Alice lived a life marked by unwavering dedication, kindness, and a profound sense of family and faith.
Alice was known affectionately as Granny or Nonnie to those privileged to know her love and warmth. She embarked on her early years working in the fields, picking cotton, a testament to her strong work ethic that remained with her throughout her life. Later, she dedicated many years to serving others in the County Clerk's office, working in customer service with patience and a gentle demeanor. Her proudest accomplishment was her lifelong commitment to her work, culminating in a well-deserved retirement.
A faithful and proud Catholic, Alice’s spirituality was an integral part of her identity. She found great comfort and joy in her faith, often visiting family and friends, tending to their graves with flowers as a loving tribute. Her devotion will be honored in a Mass to be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Moulton, Texas, on April 22, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
Alice’s sweet nature extended beyond her faith and work into her personal life. She was a gifted homemaker who delighted in baking her delicious persimmon cookies, a treat fondly remembered by her family. She lovingly sewed and crafted new garments for her granddaughter, sharing her talents in quiet, heartfelt ways. Alice’s treasured hobbies included being a collector of many things, exploring garage sales, and caring deeply for her beloved dogs, who brought her much joy.
She is survived by her daughter Cheryl and son-in-law Mark, her son Bobby and daughter-in-law Vanessa, as well as four grandchildren: Gregory, Erin, Amber, and BJ, with( Erin’s husband )Lance, and Paul, (the father of Maxamus and Zachary.) Her legacy continues through six great-grandchildren: Hayden, Aleah, Preston, Gavin, Zachary, and Maxamus, who all were blessed by her tender love and guidance.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Mary Koncaba, her brother Gene Koncaba, and her son Michael Voldan.
Those who knew Alice will remember her as a remarkably sweet woman, ever ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. She embraced life with a gentle spirit and a generous heart, always making time to nurture her family and friendships. Alice Anna Lewis was truly loved by all who had the honor of knowing her, and her memory will be cherished forever.
May she rest in eternal peace.
