It is with profound respect and heartfelt remembrance that we honor the life of Alice Anna Lewis, born on July 12, 1936, who peacefully passed away on April 12, 2026, in Houston. A devoted Catholic and a cherished member of her community, Alice leaves behind a legacy of kindness, diligence, and love that will forever resonate in the hearts of all who knew her.
Alice’s early years were marked by humble beginnings, having once picked cotton—a testament to her strong work ethic and perseverance. This steadfast dedication continued throughout her life as she built a meaningful career at the County Clerk’s office in customer service, dedicating herself fully until her well-earned retirement. Her lifelong commitment to work was among her proudest accomplishments and set an inspiring example for those around her.
Those fortunate to know Alice remember her as a woman of exceptional sweetness and generosity. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to someone in need and carried a genuine warmth that drew others to her. Family and friends were at the center of her world; she delighted in visiting them whenever possible, often honoring loved ones by tending to their graves with flowers.
Alice was lovingly known by many as Granny or Nonnie, endearing titles that capture the tender relationships she nurtured with her family. Her culinary skills were fondly remembered through her delicious persimmon cookies—treats that brought joy to family gatherings. She also expressed her love through sewing, often making new pants for her granddaughter, a gesture reflecting both her creativity and care. A collector of all sorts of things, Alice found joy in cherishing the small treasures in life, and her passion for garage sales was one of the many ways she embraced this interest.
Her affection extended beyond people to include her beloved dogs, companions who were a source of comfort and happiness throughout her life.
A solemn Mass celebrating Alice’s life will be held on April 22, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, located at 601 N Pecan St, Moulton, TX 77975.
