Alijandro Cantu Velasquez, age 73, of San Antonio, Texas passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2022. Alijandro was born April 30, 1948 in Schulenburg, Texas to Mamie Cantu Velasquez and Guadalupe Velasquez, Sr. Alijandro is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Guajardo; his son Alex Velasquez, Jr. of San Antonio, Texas; his daughters Lisa Marie V. Cavazos (Sergio) of La Vernia, Texas; and Priscilla Michelle Garcia (Tom Anthony) of Elmendorf,Texas; his brothers Guadalupe Velasquez, Jr. of Flatonia, Texas, Gabriel Velasquez of Houston, Texas, and George Velasquez of Flatonia, Texas, Alfred Velasquez of Flatonia, Texas, Gilbert Velasquez of Flatonia, Texas and Antonio Velasquez of Luling, Texas; his sister Yolanda Motal of Austin, Texas,his grandchildren Joshua Cole Gonzales, Julian Lee Velasquez, Kandice Nicole Cavazos, Anabella Marie Cavazos, Alyssa Delilah Cavazos, Maximilliano Antonio Garcia and Aureliano Joaquin Garcia. Alijandro was preceded in death by his father Guadalupe Velasquez, Sr., his mother Mamie Cantu Velasquez; and his brother Ruben Velasquez. A private visitation for Alijandro will be held Tuesday, February 1, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Smith Funeral Home, 128 East 5th Street, Flatonia, Texas 78941. A private funeral service will occur Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at 10:00 AM, 128 East 5th Street, Flatonia, Texas 78941. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Flatonia, Texas. Serving as pallbearers are Alex Velasquez, Jr., Julian Lee Velasquez, Joshua Cole Gonzales, Sergio F. Cavazos, Carlos Velasquez, Travis Velasquez and honorary pallbearer Justina Velasquez.
