Surrounded by her children, Allyne Ruth Buehring Chapman of Moulton, Texas, entered into her heavenly reward on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at the age of 76 after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer. She was a wonderful daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister who was always there when anyone needed anything.
Allyne was born on October 2, 1946, in Shiner to Eldor and Elnora (Gerloff) Buehring, the first of 6 children. Growing up, she helped her parents with the farm work, tending the crops and the garden as well as looking after her younger siblings. After graduating from Moulton High School in 1964, Allyne took to waitressing where she met and married Frank Joseph Preiss, Jr., of Cuero, TX, on October 16, 1964. Together, they raised their 4 children until Frank’s sudden death in 1980. One year later on August 1, 1981, Allyne remarried her second love, William Edward “Bubba” Chapman of Crosby, TX, and extended her family with 4 stepchildren.
Allyne and Ed made their home for the next 16 years in Crosby where she drove the school bus for Crosby ISD and also made a name for herself among the local FFA groups as the chicken plucking lady. She retired after Ed’s passing in 1998 and moved back to her hometown of Moulton. Allyne couldn’t sit still, though, so she took a job as the secretary for Beran’s Gin, Mill, and Feed Company of Moulton and held that position until her retirement in February of 2022.
Allyne had many friends and was a well-loved member of the Moulton community where she spent her time volunteering in many organizations as well as for her church. Over the years, Allyne served as reporter and treasurer for the Hermann Sons Life Lodge of Moulton, treasurer for the American Legion Auxiliary to Post #392 of Moulton, and a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary to Post #6209 of Shiner. She was also a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church of Moulton where she served on the WELCA Board.
She loved baking prize winning pies for the Moulton Jamboree and was even known to have a couple of grand champion pies. She loved meeting new people and always greeted everyone with the biggest smile.
Allyne’s deep faith and devotion in Jesus never wavered even during her trials and tribulations. She always made every effort to attend Sunday services, even when she was on vacation in Bermuda. It was her strong faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that was her comfort and peace before her passing.
Allyne was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, both husbands of 16 years each, and a special friend/partner of 11 years, Willie Konecny. She leaves behind her beloved children Joey Preiss (Stormie) of Moulton, TX; Arlene Adams (Joseph) of Baytown, TX; Melissa Moody (Leon) of Pasadena, TX; and Christine Sandlin (Bryan) of Baytown, TX; one brother, Robert Buehring (Terry) of Moulton; 4 sisters Kathy Koch (John) of Moulton; Helen Chaloupka (Junior) of Moulton; Marilyn Hanslik (Paul) of The Woodlands; and Loretta Olsovsky (Sylvin) of Moulton; 16 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and additional extended family members.
