Alvin Alfred Rothbauer, 90, of Moulton, Texas, passed away on September 23, 2014 at Shady Oak Nursing & Rehab in Moulton, Texas. Funeral Mass is under the direction of Smith Funeral Home in Moulton, Texas and will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 10:00 am at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Moulton, Texas with Father Gabriel Maison officiating. Interment will follow at the Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Moulton, Texas. A Rosary will be recited on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 9:30 am at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Moulton, Texas. Alvin was born on August 22, 1924 in Moulton, Texas. He was the son of Frank and Mary (Schoenfeld) Rothbauer. After graduating from school, Alvin joined the US Army in 1943. He served in Europe and was assigned to the Artillery Battalion and the 105 Howitzer. After returning home, he worked for Piggly Wiggly in San Antonio and Moulton. He met Antoinette Pavlas at the Praha Picnic. They were married in Moulton, Texas at Saint Joseph Catholic Church on October 24, 1945. He then became a self-employed carpenter working with his cousin, Marvin Rothbauer, while going to night school on the GI Bill. He graduated from Blinn College in Moulton, Texas with a degree in Business Administration. Alvin was a member of the VFW Post 6971. Alvin is survived by his wife; Antoinette Rothbauer of Moulton, Texas, one son; Darrell Rothbauer and his wife, Diane of Moulton, Texas, two daughters; Darlene Clark and her husband, Buddy of Hope, Texas, Linda Michalec and her husband, David of Shiner, Texas, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; Frank and Mary Rothbauer, and one brother; Eugene Allen Rothbauer. Pallbearers for Mr. Rothbauer will be; Chris Rivera, Shayne Clark, Dallas Rothbauer, Jody Rothbauer, Bruce Rothbauer, and David Rothbauer.
