Amelia Mica

Amelia Pauline "Millie" Mica Amelia Pauline "Millie" Mica, 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 11, 2016 at Austin Heart Hospital in Austin with her son, Felix, by her side. Millie was born to the late Otto B. and Julia Brunner Hoffman on May 8, 1923 in Flatonia. She attended Floy School and then transferred to Flatonia High School for a short time. On December 30, 1940, she married Felix E. Mica who predeceased her in 1999. Felix and Millie spent their lives living in Flatonia and Millie was well known for her four decades of day care of many children from the Flatonia area. She retired on October 10, 2014 after keeping multiple generations of children. She was a long-time member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a member of The Catholic Daughters and a life-long member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She is survived by three children, daughter Evelyn Mica, sons Felix E. Mica, Jr. and wife Gayle Labay Mica, Harold Mica and wife, Jane Mica, grandsons Stuart Mica, Jason Mica, Brandon Mica, granddaughters Amy Mica McCabe and Emily Jane Mica and great grandsons Koby Mica and Bryce McCabe. In addition to her parents, Millie was predeceased by her sister and best friend, Otelia "Tillie" Hoffman Kelly and her two brothers Killian "Sonny" Hoffman and Otto "Ottie" Hoffman. Pallbearers will be Stuart Mica, Jason Mica, Harold Mica, Ronnie Masek, Brandon Mica and Chris Kubesch. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, July 14, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home in Flatonia. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 15, 2016 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flatonia, officiated by Father Eddie Winkler. Burial will follow at the Catholic Cemetery in Flatonia.
