August "Gus" Targac, 79, of Moulton, Texas passed away on Friday, June 17,2016. He was born on September 22, 1936 in Yoakum, Texas to Louis and Rosie (Stavarek) Targac. After Gus lost his mother at the age of 12, he was raised by his step-mother Hattie (Jahn) Targac. He attended St. Ludmila's Academy in Shiner. On January 3, 1959, he married "his chick," Jeanie Dierschke. Gus and Jeanie made their permanent home in Moulton, Texas for 57 years. Together, they ran Gus's Place for 13 years. Gus loved his cows, bailing hay, and helping Chick raise her chickens. Gus's favorite hobby was playing cards with his lifetime friends. Gus was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church as well as a member of the KJT Society. In addition to his wife, Jeanie, Gus is survived by his children Debbie Rother (husband Danny) and Deana Bohuslav (husband Kenny), and grandchildren Eric Rother (wife Lasae), Danielle Sevcik (husband Ronnie Jr.), Tawnya Shirocky (husband Adam), Brandon Rother (wife Clarissa), Whitney Pohler (husband Wesley), Keelan Bohuslav (wife Kelsey), Abby Bohuslav, and Shelby Bohuslav. Gus is also survived by the great joys of his life, his great grandchildren Evan, Presley, Hayden, and Eli Rother, Layne, Trent, Kenley, and Dakota Sevcik, Chloe Pohler, and soon a little boy and a little girl will be added to the family. Survivors also include his brother Frank Targac (wife Mildred) sisters, Mary Jane Patek and Margaret Barton (husband Leon), and step-brother Sammy Jahn. He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Rosie Targac, step-mother Hattie Targac, siblings Henry Targac, Victor Targac, Eugene Targac, Louis Targac, Jr., Irene Matias, Rosanne Chaney, and step-siblings Rudolph Jahn and James Jahn. Pallbearers include Eric Rother, Keelan Bohsulav, Brandon Rother, Ronnie Sevcik, Wesley Pohler, Adam Shirocky, Frankie Targac, and Stanley Matias. Honorary Pallbearers include Danielle Sevcik, Whitney Pohler, Tawnya Shirocky, Abby Bohuslav, Shelby Bohuslav, LaSae Rother, Kelsey Bohuslav, and Clarissa Rother. Visitation will start at 8:00 a.m. Sunday, June 19, 2016 at Smith Funeral Home, followed by Rosary at 6:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 20, 2016 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Gabriel Maison officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
