Barbara Sue Luksovsky passed away on October 16, 2024. Everyone knew her in life as Suzy. She was born on the family farm past Old Moulton to Zattie and Ida Johnson on July 31, 1940. She grew up in town and spent the rest of her life in Moulton. She lived one house down from the love of her life, Charles Luksovsky. They were married in St. Joseph's Catholic Church on June 24, 1961, and, together they raised two children Kris and Kelly. They remained devoted to each other until Charles’ death in 2003.
She ran her own local business, Suzy's Flowers, for years. Many people will remember her for providing flowers for both their joyous occasions like weddings and sad events like funerals. She then went on to work for her husband’s business proudly telling people she retired from driving a dump truck. Suzy enjoyed taking care of her yard and plants, feeding wild birds, baking cookies, and, rooting for the Chicago Cubs.
In June of this year she was diagnosed with lung cancer. Though she quit smoking years ago, the damage was done. She fought hard to stay with us, but it was just too much to overcome. If you are a smoker and love yourself and love your family, please quit.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Lou Miller of Flatonia, her husband, and, his parents Charlie and Mamie Jo Luksovsky of Moulton. She is survived by her son Kelly R. Luksovsky of Austin, her daughter Kris Syler and husband Britt of Muldoon, her sister Jean Brust of San Antonio, numerous nieces and nephews, her best friend Marion Orts of Moulton, and her three cats who already miss her.
A viewing for Suzy will be from 1:30-4:30 PM on Monday, Oct 21, 2024 followed by a family visitation from 4:30-6:30 PM at Smith Funeral Home in Moulton. A recitation of the Rosary will begin at 6:30 PM. A funeral mass will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Moulton and interment will follow at the Moulton City Cemetery.
