Ben Ulbrich

Bernard (Ben) L. Ulbrich -- Born on January 24, 1938 at Herman Hospital in downtown Houston to Erma Freda Stock, native of Shiner, TX and Joseph (Joe) H. Ulbrich, native of Weimar, TX. Ben grew up in downtown Houston, his playground was Herman Park where he rode his bike and did some fishing there (I don't think you can do that anymore). He started his schooling at Montrose Elementary and then changed over to Holy Rosary Catholic School. He then went to San Jacinto High School where he graduated. He worked after school at Consolidated Tiles and Frozen Foods where his father also worked. After graduating high school he attended Sam Houston State College. In 1959 Ben started working at Coke in downtown Houston for a few years as a route driver before being drafted into the Army where he served as a military policeman (MP). After completing his tour of duty, Ben returned to Coke as a route driver working his way up to Sales Center Manger before retiring with 50 years of service. During his time at Coke he worked at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for numerous years. He loved to fish, hunt, make BBQ, play the slot machines and kept a beautiful yard as he received Yard of the Month several times. He also loved to take cruises and visited many countries. He is preceded in death by his mother & father and is survived by wife of 49 years Dorothy Berckenhoff Ulbrich of Lake Livingston and son and daughter-in-law Vernon & Annette Meazle of Moulton and his special pet cat, Whiteie. Visitation for Ben will begin at 8:00 AM Friday, April 9, 2021 at Smith Funeral Home in Moulton, Texas. A rosary will be recited starting at 10:00 AM with a funeral service at 10:30 AM on Friday, April 9, 2021 in the Chapel at Smith Funeral Home in Moulton, Texas. Burial will be in the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Moulton, Texas.
