Benjamin (Ben) Smolik, of Moulton, passed away October 14, 2013 in Yoakum at the age of 74. He was born in Praha June 25, 1939 to Albina Wagner and Louis V. Smolik. Ben was retired after 36 years at Kasper Wire Works in Shiner, with the last 12 years of him being a supervisor. He was also a farmer and a rancher. He is preceded in death by his parents, and step-mother, Mary Ann Smolik. He is survived by his wife Deloris Smolik of Moulton; sister, Gertrude Hajek & husband Charlie of Waller; nephew, Brian Hajek & wife Lisa of Bellville; nieces, Karen Botzong & husband Michael of Cypress, and Kimberly Bray & husband Glen of Tomball. Also surviving are nine great nieces and nephews. Visitation will start at 11:00 am Thursday, October 17, 2013, followed by Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Moulton. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 18, 2013 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Praha with Father Joe Hybner officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Praha.
