Bernice Wilma Freytag May 11, 1929-June 10, 2013 Bernice Wilma Freytag, 84, of Flatonia, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 10, 2013 with her family by her side. Bernice was born in Flatonia, Texas, on May 11, 1929, the daughter of the late Willie and Millie Walker. She married Marvin L. Freytag on September 25, 1949, in Flatonia, Texas. Bernice graduated from Flatonia High School as Valedictorian. Following graduation she attended Draughon's Business College in San Antonio. Bernice worked alongside her husband Marvin at Freytag Drug Store for many years. Anyone who knew her would have remembered her in the kitchen with an apron around her waist and a kitchen towel on her shoulder. Bernice's famous sauerkraut potato dumplings and dewberry pie will definitely be missed this Easter. She also loved to do needle work in between attending all her grandkids' activities. Bernice was a beautiful woman of Christ, as well as a faithful wife, loving mother, grandmother, and a true friend. She is survived by her son: M. Wayne Freytag and wife, Lee Ann, of Hallettsville; grandchildren: Christopher Freytag and wife, Kristin of Hallettsville; Allison (Freytag) Hebert and husband, Patrick of Magnolia; and Kimberly Freytag of Hallettsville and fiancé, Garrett Cerny of El Campo; and three great grandchildren: Aubrey Freytag, Luke Freytag, and Parker Hebert. Visitation will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2013. A Rosary will be cited at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, with mass and funeral services following at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flatonia. The Burial will immediately follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Pallbearers are Christopher Freytag, Patrick Hebert, Garrett Cerny, Jerome Svatek, David Fike, and Red Richter.
