Bessie Pechacek

Bessie Smrkovsky Pechacek, age 94, of Flatonia passed away March 22, 2013. She was born June 24, 1918 to the late Josef and Anna Suchanek Smrkovsky in Lyra, Texas. She married John J. Pechacek on June 20, 1942. She was a beautician and housewife. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic church and the Altar Society. She was a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court St. Rose No. 1597 of Schulenburg. She is survived by one son, John Pechacek Jr., and one daughter, Sue Taylor and husband Carl Gene, all of Flatonia; five grandchildren, Kimberly Taylor Morris and husband Ragan of Leander, TX, Brian Taylor of Flatonia, Rodney Pechacek, Paul Pechacek, and Stacey Pechacek Jares all of Yoakum; two great grandchildren, Taylor Layne Morris of Leander and Kristen Jares of Yoakum. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Pechacek Sr. in 2008; five sisters, Mary Smrkovsky, Annie Smrovsky, Helen Nelson, Hattie Polk, and Frances Meyer; three brothers, Tony, Joe, and Rudy Smrkovsky. Visitation will start 10:30 am Monday, March 25, 2013 at smith Funeral Home Chapel in Flatonia. Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm Monday March 25, at Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Tuesday, March 26, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flatonia with Father Eddie Winkler officiating.
