On July 26, 2014 Bessie Silba of Moulton was received into the loving arms of our Lord surrounded by family while at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Ida and Rene Jimenez, in San Antonio. Bessie, 90, was born on April 22, 1924 near Moulton, Texas, daughter of the late Rudolph and Mary Valenta Rebecek. She was raised in the Moulton-Shiner area and attended Moulton schools. On February 21, 1944 Bessie married Willie Doehring in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Moulton. Together, they operated several dairy farms in the Shiner-Yoakum area and then moved to Flatonia in 1960 to continue raising their three children, Robert, George and Ida. Bessie worked at Harry's Place and Cozy Café and became a dedicated care-giver for Willie as he battled terminal illness. Willie passed away on May 16, 1968. On November 21, 1970, Bessie married Tony Silba in St. Joseph's Catholic Church and moved back to Moulton shortly thereafter. She was a member of the Moulton and Shiner VFW Ladies Auxiliaries and the Moulton Catholic Daughters of America. After Tony's passing in 1983, Bessie remained in Moulton tending her large yard, flowers and pecan trees. Each fall season she harvested and shelled pecans from the huge trees in her yard and happily shared the bounty, which included her famous Czech pastries, with family and friends. Through the years Bessie also enjoyed extended visits with her daughter and family in California. Bessie is survived by her son, George Doehring, and his wife, Donella, of Flatonia; her daughter, Ida Jimenez and her husband Rene Jimenez of San Antonio; daughter-in-law, Janice Doehring, of Brenham; sisters Emma Kram and Selma Othold of Shiner; sister-in-law, Edna Rebecek of Roundrock; six granddaughters and thirteen great-grandchildren. Bessie is preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, sister Annie Krametbauer, sisters Katie and Olga Rebecek, brothers Adolph, Rudy, John, Charlie, Joe and Daniel Rebecek and her oldest son, Robert "Bob" Doehring, of Brenham. A reception will be held at Roberts' Steak House in Flatonia following the burial. Deserts are welcome.
