Billy Ray Brueggman, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away at his home in Bastrop, Texas, on November 22, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born on January 7, 1931, in Moulton, Texas, to Rudolph “Rudie” Brueggman and Hattie Kretchmer Brueggman-Bartels. He married the love of his life, Mary Lee Jarosek, on June 1, 1952.

Billy proudly served in the United States Air Force, demonstrating a commitment to his country that would resonate throughout his life. He later pursued a successful career as a Purchasing Manager with Rohm & Haas in Louisville, Kentucky. His professional achievements were notable, but those who knew him understood that his proudest accomplishments lay within his family. Billy valued family above all else, dedicating his life to nurturing the bonds he held dear.

He graduated from the University of Houston and was known for his vibrant personality, characterized by a great sense of humor, kindness, and a warm welcoming nature. He was a God-fearing man who lived his life with integrity and purpose.

Billy cherished the time spent at the family ranch, often enjoying joyful moments dancing in the living room with his beloved wife, Mary Lee. His love for polka music often filled their home with rhythm and laughter. An enthusiastic traveler, Billy found pleasure in exploring new places and indulged in the delights of slot machines and happy hours by the pool.

Billy is survived by his daughter, Janice Taylor; sons, Patrick Brueggman (Nouha) and Jack Brueggman; as well as 16 grandchildren, including six through marriage, 24 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He will be profoundly missed by those who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lee; daughter, Rhonda Brueggman Plance; mother, Hattie Kretchmer Brueggman-Bartels; father, Rudolph “Rudie” Brueggman; sister, Dolores Dorothy Wornat; sister, Kirvey Etta Maresh; and brother, Blaine Dell Brueggeman.

A visitation to honor Billy will be held at Smith Funeral Home in Moulton on November 26, 2024, with visitation starting at 4:00 PM and a prayer vigil later that evening at 6:00 PM. A funeral service will follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on November 27, 2024, beginning at 10:00 AM, with interment services thereafter.

Billy Ray Brueggman leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will forever resonate within the hearts of his family. His spirit will be celebrated and remembered by all who knew him.
