Billy Sellers, beloved husband, father and grandaddy went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, June 22, 2011. He was born to the late E.B. and Mildred Cowan Sellers on July 31, 1929 in the Elm Grove community outside of Flatonia, TX. He is survived by his wife, Marie, of almost 56 years, his daughter Janis and husband Robert Syrinek, his son Bobby and wife Kannahi Sellers all of Flatonia, granddaughter Amanda Syrinek of Katy and grandson Jeff Syrinek of Austin. Billy led a full life. He graduated from Flatonia High School in 1948, and joined the army in 1951, serving until 1953. In 1955 married Marie Hill of Gonzales, TX. He worked in the oilfield for Sutton Oil Company and in 1968 started his own oilfield business "Sellers Lease Service". Along with his company he was a cattle rancher and had an egg farm for Smith Farms. Billy served on the Flatonia ISD School board for 15 years, from 1962 thru 1977. As a member of Flatonia Baptist Church he served as a faithful Deacon and Treasurer for over 50 years. In 1981 he became the Treasurer and overseer of the Elm Grove Cemetery Association. For the most part, Billy never "retired" from anything, but with all his work he always had time for family and friends. Always had time to fish and hunt and take part in all the pleasures of this life. Visitation will be at 11:00 am Friday, June 24, 2011 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Flatonia. The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 8 pm. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Flatonia Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Rowell officiating. Burial will be at Elm Grove Cemetery immediately following services. Pallbearers are the Sellers Lease Service employees, Porfirio Serna, Rodney Schulze, Al Bauer, Randy Young, Ross Young, Erik Richardson, Adam Smith, Willie Hinson, Troy Kolb and Peggy Kalich. Donations may be made to the Flatonia Baptist Church building fund.
