Bobby Rankin

Bobby Jerrall Rankin Bobby J. Rankin was born July 18th, 1929 in Abilene, Texas to Walter and Louise Rankin. He was the brother of James, Eva and Betty. He lived as any Texan would want to as a cowboy growing up on the family ranch and then after graduating high school at Zephyr, Texas he worked for the Santa Fe railroad and also as an over the road truck driver. Bobby was married to Wetona Horton in 1950 and had 5 children, Regina, Jerry, Twila, Randall and Darla. In 1966 he was married to Velda McMillian and was then blessed with her 3 children, Danny, Leslie and Diane, as well. In 1997, Bobby was blessed by meeting Marie Darling and was then blessed with her children, Donna, Brenda and Jenny, as well. Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Millard and Maude Louis Rankin, brother Jimmy and his wife Mary Rankin, sister Eva Louise and husband Tom Rowden, brother-in-law J.T. Holloman. He is survived by his "Sweetie" Marie Darling of Flatonia, sister Betty Holloman of Katy, daughter Regina Happel and husband Henry, son Jerry Rankin and wife Darlene, daughter Twila Partain and husband Johnny, son Randall Rankin and wife Kathy , daughter Darla Johnson, son Danny McKay, son Leslie McMillian, daughter Diane McMillian, daughter Donna Simmons and husband Keith, daughter Brenda Josselet and husband Ron and daughter Jenny Baker. He is survived by 28 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Bobby left earth for his Heavenly home at 3:40am January 17, 2013. He was a beloved friend, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and more than anything was a good man! He loved to hunt, fish, rodeo and Bar-b-que. He loved Jesus and was ready to visit his new home. We are going to miss him here but will see him again! Visitation will began Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 4:30 pm at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 20, 2013 at 2:00 pm from the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Flatonia with Rev. Tim Rowell officiating.
