Christine Darilek

Christine (Mikes) Darilek, 96, of Moulton passed away on Monday, June 5, 2017. She was born on December 4, 1920 to Jacob & Theresa (Panus) Mikes. On October 3, 1939 she married Adolph C. Darilek. They resided in the Witting community where they raised their four children and were married for 64 years prior to Adolph's death in 2004. Christine was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking/baking and canning, as well as growing flowers. On weekends she and Adolph enjoyed dancing to the many polka bands in the area. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and St. Joseph Catholic Church of Moulton. Christine was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph; her parents; brother, Ludwig Mikes and sisters, Albina Pilsner, Bessie Carter, Mary Zimmerman, Stazie Buzek, Francis Pilsner and Emily Brunkenhoeffer. Survivors include her children: Ida Nell Starustka and husband, Vincent of Houston, Rosalyn Kocian and husband, Alvin of Moulton, Karen Billimek of Houston and Evan Darilek and wife, Linda of Hallettsville. She has eight grandchildren: Brian Starustka, Kimberly Hrehor, Kristene Kubenka, Vicki Simper, Angela Tatom, Brandon Billimek, Shauna Billimek and Autumn Taylor. She has 17 great grandchildren. The family thanks Doctor Ralph Wagner, as well as the staff of Shady Oak Nursing Home, for the care they provided to Christine. Pallbearers: Jay Hrehor, Ryan Simper, Billy Tatom, Troy Hrehor, Brian Starustka, & Eugene Mikes. Visitation will be 12:00 pm Friday, June 9, 2017 with Rosary following at 7:00 pm at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, June 10, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Gabriel Maison officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
