Dan S. Velasquez, 79, of Flatonia passed away February 24, 2014. He was born in Elm Grove October 5, 1934 to Janie Salas and Dan Velasquez Sr. He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Helen Velasquez; son, Steven Velasquez; grandson, Gregory Turner; three brothers, Lupe, Frank, and Andrew Velasquez. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Velasquez of Flatonia; two sons, Danny Velasquez & wife Barbara of Flatonia, and Andrew Velasquez & wife Susan of Praha; six daughters, Mary Alice Turner & husband David of Flatonia, Sylvia Kocian & husband Clifford of Jourdanton, Mary Jane Wheeler & husband Rodney of Abilene, JoAnn Estrada & husband Max Jr. of Flatonia, Patsy Velasquez of Flatonia, and Lisa Todd & husband Mark of Flatonia; daughter-in-law, Rosie Velasquez of Moulton; three brothers, David Velasquez of Houston, Joe Velasquez of Flatonia, and Armando Velasquez of Flatonia; four sisters, Hope Olmos of Flatonia, Texas, Lucia Rameriz of Baytown, Norma Montoya of Flatonia, and Dora Flores of Houston; step children, Lisa Balli & husband Brian of Austin, and Richard Schonhoeft & wife Linda Giddings; eighteen grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren. Visitation will start at 8:00 am Friday, February 28, 2014 at Smith Funeral Home in Flatonia with Rosary to follow at7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flatonia with Father Eddie Winkler officiating. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Flatonia.
