Daniel P. Brom passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at the age of 84 years. He was born in Moulton on December 6, 1927 to the late Albert and Augustina Machart Brom. He married Martha Kubecka on September 6, 1949 in Shiner. Daniel was a Post World War II veteran serving in the United States Army as a guard in Japan from 1946 to 1947. Daniel was a farmer, rancher, and carpenter. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Moulton, VFW, American Legion and KLT. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Martha; two daughters, Patricia (Mike) Hudson of Houston, Barbara (Sidney) Jasek of Hallettsville; two sons, Donald (Shirley) Brom of Houston, and Robert (Mary) Brom of Columbus; nine grandchildren, Michael and Christopher Brom, Suzanne (Brandon) Williford, Laura (Nick) Whitefield, John (Kelli) Hudson, Dwayne Hudson, Dale (Brittany) Jasek, Kelly (Steve) Desautels, and Travis Jasek; three step grandchildren; seven great - grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; one sister, Lillie (Daniel) Jemelka. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ella Michalec; niece, Connie Waymire, and nephew, Chris Michalec. Visitation will begin on Sunday, March 25, 2012 at 3:00 pm at Smith Funeral Home in Moulton. Rosary will be held in Sunday, March 25, 2012 at 6:00 pm at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Moulton. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 26, 2012 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Moulton with Father Gabriel Maison officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Michael and Christopher Brom, John and Dwayne Hudson, and Dale and Travis Jasek. Honorary pallbearers will be his grand-daughters and great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made out to St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Moulton or Hospice or South Texas.
