He was born May 28, 1928, in Muldoon, to the late Stan and Lexie Zimmerhanzel Mares. He was a rancher and a member of Cistern Catholic Church.
Survivors: sister, Della Brosch of Cistern; and brother, Vencil Mares of Taylor.
Preceded in death by: brother, Fred Mares.
A rosary was recited Friday evening at the funeral home.
Services were held Saturday at Cistern Catholic Church, the Rev. Joseph M. Hybner officiating.
Burial was at Cistern Catholic Cemetery.
