Dennis Ellinghausen passed away February 25th, 2024, at the age of 77, after a short battle with cancer.
Dennis was born October 22, 1946, to Helmuth and Sophia Sykora Ellinghausen.
After graduating from Moulton High School in 1964, he moved to Houston where he was employed by Waukesha-Pearce Industries for 44 years, retiring as warehouse manager.
During the Vietnam Era he served his country in the Army National Guard.
After retirement, he and his wife moved from Sugar Land back to his home town of Moulton where he enjoyed gardening and tending to his many plants.
On May 19, 1974, Dennis married Bernice Dusek. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. For many years Dennis and Bernice enjoyed traveling to various locations. Many of those trips were with Moulton friends; memories that will always be treasured.
Dennis had a great love of music. Because of this, he could name most 50’s and 60’s songs along with the artist and writer. He served as the sound engineer for The Original Moods and later for the Band of Geezers. During those dances, he enjoyed meeting people, discussing songs or telling a joke. For those that knew Dennis, no matter where he was, he always had a joke to share, whether you wanted to hear it or not.
Dennis was a member of the St Joseph Catholic Church, American Legion Post 392 and was also a huge part of the Moulton School Reunion committee.
He is survived by his wife Bernice, brother Victor (Margaret), niece Cindy Dawson, sister and brother-in-law Lillian and Ben Braeuer, and his pet cat Hobo. He is preceded in death by his parents.
A Visitation for Dennis will begin at 9:00 AM on Friday, March 1, 2024 with a Rosary following at 9:30 AM and a Memorial Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moulton, Tx. His urn will be placed in the Columbarium at The Resurrection Chapel at St. Joseph’s Church in Moulton, Tx.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to donors choice in memory of Dennis.
