Dorothy Berckenhoff Ulbrich, born on February 25, 1933, peacefully passed away on March 15, 2026, in Livingston, Texas. Dorothy lived a full and active life, marked by her fun-loving spirit and deep care for those around her.
Dorothy was born to Fred and Kristina (Koudelka) Berckenhoff. As a young girl, she helped on the family farm by delivering milk to neighbors, showing her hardworking nature from an early age. She later became a nurse and worked at Strieder Hospital in Moulton for a short time. Seeking new opportunities, Dorothy moved to Houston where she worked at Armour Packing Company and later took a position in the office at Kroger.
She was known for enjoying simple pleasures such as fishing, gambling, traveling, and spending time with her beloved cat Whitey. Dorothy also took great joy in tending to her plants and caring for her yard, reflecting her nurturing nature.
Dorothy is survived by her son Vernon Meazle and his wife Annette, her sister Rose Selzer, her brother Dennis Berckenhoff, and her cherished cat Whitey. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands James Meazle and Ben Ulbrich, her sisters Ida Graham and Sophie Barta, her brothers Rudy, Otto, and William (Billy) Berckenhoff, as well as three brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law, and four nephews.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on March 18, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Smith Funeral Home in Moulton, Texas, located at 404 West Bobkat Street. On March 19, 2026, a rosary will be held at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass at 10:00 AM, both at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 601 N Pecan Street, Moulton, Texas.
Honored to be pallbearers are: Kevin Berckenhoff, Larry Joe Berckenhoff, Shane Brzozowski, Aaron Graham, Gene Selzer Jr. and Bubba Vernon.
Dorothy’s life touched many, and she will be remembered for her lively spirit, her dedication to family, and her love of the simple things that brought her joy. She leaves behind fond memories and a legacy of kindness and warmth.
