Dwight "Ike" Haas passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2016. Ike was born on August 15, 1955 to Leslie and Alice Haas in Moulton, Texas. He attended Blinn College on a baseball scholarship and completed his college and baseball career at the University of Houston. Throughout his life, he followed major league baseball with a passion and was a walking encyclopedia in regards to current and former players, especially the Texas Rangers. He loved and spent as much time as possible fly fishing in all the prime fishing spots throughout New Mexico, Colorado and Utah. His favorite being Red River, New Mexico. Throughout his professional life he was involved in the sale of office equipment and supplies and was held in high regard by his friends and business associates. A friend and business colleague posted the following upon hearing of his passing: "Ike was one of the brightest, kindest and funniest guys I knowв?¦wicked story teller with a smile that lit up the room. In business, he truly was a "Closer" and had a way of turning prospects into clients and clients in to friends, sometimes all in the first meeting. Ike was a wild and sensitive soul, may his memory be a blessing to us all." Ike was preceded in death by his mother Alice Haas, brother Ronnie Haas, sister Kathy White and brother in law Robert White. He is survived by his daughter Jessica Haas, his father Leslie Haas, sister Gloria Haas and husband Bob Haas, nephews Rob Haas, Chad Haas and Ryan Haas, nieces Heather Haas Guerin and Stephanie White Burson. In addition, his business partner Mark Dobbs, fishing partner Joe Billingsley as well as Mo and George Wood were his best friends and considered his extended family. Per Ike's request, a private memorial with close friends and family will be held at a later date, at his favorite fishing spot in Red River, New Mexico.
