Dyrel Holmes

Dyrel Kirk Holmes of Moravia passed away December 21, 2014 at the age of seventy-eight. Dyrel was born in Houston on February 11, 1936 to the late James H. Holmes Sr. and Rubye Marie Hughes Holmes. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Moulton, Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church in Moravia and was in the US Army during the reconstruction following the Korean War. He received a Bachelors' degree in Business Administration from the University of Houston and was employed at Wyatt Industries for twenty-eight years and then Wyatt Field Service up until his retirement in 2009. He is survived by his wife of fifty years-Arlene Konvicka Holmes of Moravia, as well as his two sons Jeffrey Kirk Holmes and wife Cindy of Houston, Zachary Kirk Holmes and wife Diana of Laredo, his sister, Mary Schoellkopf of Houston, six grand-children-Kristin, Matt, Diana, Karen, Vanessa and Virgil and one great grand-child-Carlo. Dyrel is preceded in death by one brother-James Hubert Holmes Jr., 1 Sister-Dearling Miles and his father and mother-in-law-August and Rose Konvicka. Ervin Neskora, Perry Deem, Franklin Konvicka Jr., Wesley Neskora, Virgil Santos, and Martin Espinosa are serving as pallbearers with Charles Deem, Aubrey Shanks, Marvin Richard Miles and A.J. Schoellkopf Jr. as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will begin at 4:00 pm Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at the funeral home. Rosary will be recited at 9:30 am Wednesday, December 24, 2014 followed by a Mass at 10:00 am at the Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church in Moravia with Father Gabriel Maison officiating.
