Edwin Felix Baca, 77 departed early Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Memorial Hermann Hospital, The Woodlands. Edwin was born at the family home near Flatonia, to the late Herman August Baca Sr. and Agnes Annie Nickel on September 19, 1939. Eddie grew up in Fayette county, an attended grade school through high school in Flatonia and graduated in 1958. Eddie's first job was at Migl's grocery on main street in Flatonia. Mr. Migl, became a mentor to Eddie in his time working there and later a godparent to three of his older children. Eddie played football for the Flatonia Bull Dogs and was known around the area as the barefoot punter. He married his high school sweetheart, Cynthia Ann Robinson in 1960 and they had their 56th wedding anniversary in May of 2016. Eddie and Cynthia have four children, Emery, Melanie, Kelly and Bryon. Eddie started working for the Southern Pacific Railroad as a Signal Helper for a construction gang in 1959 and worked his way up to Regional Director of the Signal Maintenance and retired in 2000 with the Union Pacific Railroad with 41 years of service. Eddie's hobbies were full time family weatherman, Bar-B-Que Master, fishing with his big sister Mary, and watching the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Astros. Eddie is survived by his wife Cynthia Robinson Baca, of Conroe, sons Emery Baca and wife Janet of Fort Worth, Bryon Baca and wife Jennifer of The Woodlands, and daughter Melanie Baca of Conroe, sister Mary Branecky, brother Herman Baca Jr and wife Oranell of Flatonia, four grandchildren Michael Baca and wife Kandi of Burleson , Christopher Baca of Fort Worth, Benjamin and Joshua Baca of The Woodlands, and four great-grandchildren Jacob Ledezma, Allison Baca, Hayden Baca and Kathryn Baca of Burleson, Texas. Eddie is preceded in death by his parents, Herman Sr. and Agnes Nikel Baca, brother Frank Baca, sisters Agnes Branecky, Margaret Stavinoha, and their daughter Kelly Michelle Baca. Pall Bearers for the service; Michael Baca, Christopher Baca, James Robinson, Ted Branecky, Tom Morgan, E.C. Stavinoha, Charles Womack, and Brian Doerk. Honorary Pall Bearers; Benjamin Baca, Joshua Baca, Jacob Ledezma, Allison Baca, Hayden Baca, and Kathryn Baca. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, December 16, 2016 at 5:00pm with a rosary being recited at 7:00pm by members of the Knights of Columbus Council 3295 of Flatonia, at the Smith Funeral Home in Flatonia. A Funeral Mass will be at 11:00am on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flatonia officiated by Msgr. Tim Kosler. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Praha.
