Eugene Orsak

October 31, 1934 — October 17, 2021

Eugene WIllie Orsak, 86, of Shiner, TX passed away October 17, 2021. He was born on October 31, 1934 to Ludvik C. & Ludmila Zapalac Orsak Sr. in Moravia, TX. On April 30, 1955 he married the love of his life, Shirley Ann Orsak, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church of Bellaire, TX. He attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Moulton, TX. He is a 3rd degree member of Knights of Columbus council # 3244 of Moulton, TX and he was a member of the Texas Farm Bureau since 1993. Gene grew up helping his parents on the farm. As a young adult, he moved to Houston and began working for Hughes Tool Company. He worked various jobs, such as a dump truck driver and ice cream delivery truck driver, to support his family. Eventually he landed a job with Daniel Industries in Houston, where he started his career. He began as a floor sweeper and worked his way up to machinist. He obtained his GED, took college courses at night and earned his engineering certification, which eventually led to his position as Superintendent of the machine shop. His career at Daniels lasted for 39 years, until he retired at age 58. He spent the last several years of his career as a weekend warrior, tending to his ranch, growing his herd and preparing for his move back home. Gene always said we are rich in health and in love. He loved spending time with his family, enjoying road trips, camping trips, hunting & fishing trips, bar-b-queing, watching his grandchildren play sports or ride 4-wheelers in the pasture. He especially loved that he provided a place for the whole family to enjoy during weekends and holidays. He and Shirley were inseparable and also enjoyed spending time with just the two of them, whether it be traveling to Alaska, visiting casinos or just raking and baling hay together.
