Frances M. Pilat, 87 of Moulton, passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2016. Frances was born in Shiner in the Green School Community to the late Ben and Josephine Klos Schraer. She attended Green School and St. Ludmila's Academy in Shiner and graduated from Moulton High School in 1948. On August 2, 1949 she married Charles J. Pilat in the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Moulton. They were married for sixty-seven years. They were blessed with six sons, Joe Allen and wife Linda, Robert and wife Earlene, Mark and wife Yvonne, and Chris all of Moulton, Russell and wife Loretta of Muldoon, and Curtis and wife Denise of Shiner. She was a dedicated grandmother to nineteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great- grandchildren with number twenty-eight on the way. Also, she was anticipating the arrival of her first great-great grandchild. Frances worked in the family business for many years with her husband by her side. After she retired, she took up the hobby of crocheting. She crocheted Afghans and baby blankets for family members, friends, fund raisers and auctions. She also made Afghans and lap robes for the sick and wounded veterans. It was apparent that she took pride in every stitch that she made. Her greatest passions in life were her faith, family, friends, dancing, playing dominoes and of course, crocheting. She is also survived by two brothers, Clarence Schraer and wife Doris of Billings, Montana and Joseph Schraer and wife Jan of Georgetown, TX. She had numerous nieces and nephews as well. She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Benita and Etta Schraer, Dorothy Walters, and brother, Alvin Schraer and grandson, Clayton Mark Pilat. Pallbearers were Travis Pilat, Ryan Pilat, C.J Cernoch, Paul Pilat, Christopher Pilat, and Justin Pilat. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Friday, November 4, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Moulton. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 5, 2016 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Moulton with Fr. Gabriel Maison officiating. Burial followed at the St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Moulton.
