Georgie Cervenka was born on a farm in the central Texas community of Komensky on March 1, 1936 to August Cervenka and Viola Drozd Cervenka. She was welcomed by two brothers, Ben and Frank, an older sister, Edith, and was followed by her second sister, Bernice.
As a child, Georgie was expected to help with all the chores normally associated with farm life, as well as cooking, cleaning, and general household chores. She attended Komensky School and then Moulton High School where she was on the basketball, volleyball, and softball teams. She graduated with the class of 1955.
On November 13, 1955, Georgie married Rudy Roznovsky at Ascension Catholic Church in Moravia, TX. They moved to Houston and started a family. There, Robert (Bob) was born, followed by Barbara. In 1962, they moved back to Moulton where Beverly was born a few years later.
Georgie was employed at Tex Tan, then as a teacher’s aide at the high school, and lastly, her dream job at the bank in downtown Moulton. She enjoyed her 37 years at the bank, waiting on customers and always smiling.
Georgie was a devout member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, embracing her faith until the end. She belonged to the Catholic Daughters of America and the Altar Society. She enjoyed singing with The Happy Czech Singers, performing at the local and surrounding nursing homes. She always looked forward to singing at the polka mass at the church picnic.
Georgie had many hobbies including cooking scrumptious meals, gardening, deer hunting, fishing, spoiling her grand and great-grandchildren, and knowing everyone in town. She was a superb baker, making tasty kolaches, cheese rolls, and poppy seed cakes. She was also known for making perfect rosettes and homemade dewberry jelly for the church picnic auction each year. She was always a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a friend to all.
