Gerald A. Kalina, age 68, of Praha passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2010. Mr. Kalina was born September 30, 1941 in Praha to the late Alois J. Kalina and Ludmila Stryk Kalina. He was a machinist for Prototype, and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Praha and KJT. He is survived by two brothers: Joe Kalina and wife Pat of Houston, and Francis Kalina and wife Carole of Del Valle; five sisters: Ann Janda and husband Ted of Hostyn, Mary Jane Muras and husband Bernard of Hostyn, Benigna Gerdes and husband Kenneth of Houston, Ursula Price and husband Virgil of Cameron, and Celine Kalina of Praha; he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Ursula Kalina, and one brother, John Kalina. Visitation for friends will begin at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 06, 2010 at Smith Funeral Home - Flatonia, with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 7, 2010 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Praha with burial to follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Praha with Father Tim Kosler officiating. Pallbearers will be Douglas Janda, Paul Janda, David Muras, Aaron Kalina, Jordon Kalina, and Keith Saenger.
