Helen Mae Mica Brunner was born August 23, 1923 in Flatonia, Texas to Frances Zimmerhanzel Mica and Edward Mica. She graduated from Flatonia High School in 1942. In 1946, she married Reynold Brunner. They were married for 49 years. They were blessed with four children; Larry Brunner (deceased), Barbara Freytag, Carolyn Kallus, and Evelyn Pritchard. After graduating from high school, Helen worked for the telephone company. She worked at Smith Farms for 20 years and at Prototype Machine for 4 years. After retiring, Helen, continued to work from home. She made homemade quilts and did alterations for many people who immediately became her friends. Helen always enjoyed visiting and sharing stories with everyone who entered her home. When you entered Helen's home, you entered her heart. She was a member of Flatonia Sacred Heart Church, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She recently received a 75 year pin for her long time membership in the KJZT. She was preceded in death by her parents, 10 brothers and sisters, her husband, Reynold Brunner, and son, Larry Brunner. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara and husband Dennis Freytag, Carolyn and husband Ronnie Kallus, and Evelyn and husband W.C. (Bubba) Pritchard, all of Flatonia; six grandchildren: Beverly and husband Don Mikulenka, Ron and wife Patti Kallus, Russell and wife Tina Kallus, Carmen and husband Tommy Cliffe, Chris and wife Katy Freytag, Ashley and husband Kelly Eddlemon; 14 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Memorial contributions can be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flatonia. Visitation and Rosary was Monday, May 29, 2017 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Flatonia. Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flatonia officiated by Father Eddie Winkler. Burial followed at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Flatonia.
