Irene Brosch

Irene Dornak, age 93 of Flatonia passed away on October 22, 2017 at St. Marks Medical Center in La Grange . Irene was born February 28, 1924 in Praha , TX to Willie and Emilie (Simcik) Brosch. Irene married her one true love Anton Dornak on November 8, 1943 and enjoyed 42 years of marriage before Anton's passing in 1986. Irene could always be found at home in her kitchen, she loved to cook and served many a meals. Sundays were always special, as there was always a pot of chicken noodle soup cooking. Homemade noodles and strudels were among some of her favorite recipes. Lets not forget her homemade sugar cookies and peanut butter cookies. During her lifetime, Irene was a member of various organizations including the Catholic Daughters, American Legion Auxillary & Hermann Sons. She greatly enjoyed her time while working at the CCA and serving the meals for Meal on Wheels. Irene was also a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Irene is survived by her granddaughters Tabatha Alvarado and husband Michael of Flatonia, Miranda Vanicek and husband Chris of Flatonia, Son-in-law George Doehring of Somerville, and great-grandchildren Starla Alvarado, Trista Alvarado, Tadan Alvarado, Adriann Alvarado, and Blake Vanicek. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter Danella Doehring. Visitation is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday October 25th 2017 at the Smith Funeral Chapel in Flatonia. Reciting of the rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. on October 26th 2017 with the funeral service to follow at 10:00 a.m. at the Smith Funeral Chapel with Father Eddie Winkler officiating. Interment will follow at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Flatonia. Pall bearers are Michael Alvarado, Chris Vanicek, Tadan Alvarado, Blake Vanicek, Cesar Castillo, and Jason Stryk.
