Jerry Lynn Weir, 71, of Flatonia, died March 26, 2016, with his family at his bedside. Jerry was born April 21, 1944 in Gatesville, Texas, the son of Albert Cecil and Evelyn (Featherston) Weir. He graduated from Flat High School in 1963. After graduation he moved to Austin, Texas, were he met his future wife, Carolyn Pelech. Jerry and Carolyn married on December 8, 1967 in McDade, Texas. In 1977, they moved to Flatonia, Texas to raise their family. Jerry served on the Flatonia ISD school board from 1979-1986 and served as president from 1983-1985. He worked as a territory manager for Xylem, Inc. for the last 21 ½ years. In his spare time, if Jerry was not hanging out with his grandchildren or at the в??coffee shop', he could be found at the Flatonia Golf Association enjoying his favorite pastime or supporting the Flatonia Bulldogs at various sporting events. Jerry is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carolyn; Daughters Kim Mraz (Greg) and Darla Pilat (Steven) both of Shiner, Texas, and Heather Weir of Flatonia, Texas; Granddaughters Paxton Mraz, Alyson Mraz, Allison Pilat, and Autumn Pilat. Brothers Kenneth Weir (Josephine) of Kempner, Texas, Don Weir (Sally) of Bedford, Texas, Gerald Weir (Starr) of San Antonio, Texas, and Galen Weir (Echo) of Kaufman, Texas; Sisters Anita McNeese (Bobby) Richland Hills, Texas, Wilma Motley of Fort Worth, Texas, Lola Wolff (Tommy) of McGregor, Texas, Patricia Rosas (Jose) of Gatesville, Texas, and Nancy Rush of Fort Worth; Sister-in-law Martha Tauch; Brother-in-law Daniel Pelech; numerous nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great- nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-father Lee Attebery. In-laws Arnold Tauch, A.C. and Elenora Little, Tom and Darlene Leigh, and Sandra Pelech. Pallbearers are his brothers and son-in laws. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Garber, Tom Sterzing, and his golf buddies. Jerry was beloved by all of his friends and family and will be dearly missed. Box 305, Flatonia, Texas 78941 or the donor's choice. Visitation will start at 5:00pm, Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Smith Funeral Chapel in Flatonia. Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, March 31, 2016 at Flatonia Baptist Church with Reverend Tim Rowell officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Mausoleum in Flatonia.
