Joe "Moon" Luna, Jr., 74, of Waelder, Texas passed away on Friday, February 8, 2013 at his home in Waelder, Texas. Funeral Mass is under the direction of Smith Funeral Home in Flatonia, Texas and will be held Monday, February 11, 2013 at 10:00 am at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in Waelder, Texas with Father Paul Raaz officiating. Interment will follow at the Waelder Community Cemetery in Waelder, Texas. A Rosary will be recited at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Flatonia, Texas on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at 7:00 pm with Deacon Alfonso Moreno officiating. Joe was born on December 16, 1938 in Waelder, Texas. He was the son of Jose and Bruna (Garza) Luna, Sr. He was a member of the Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in Waelder, Texas. He worked for Dean Word Construction for more than thirty years. Moon liked taking care of his gun collection when he wasn't out taking care of his vegetable garden. Moon liked to tinker with just about anything he could find. His family loving referred to him as "Bob the Builder" because he was always building something, no matter how crooked it was. Joe is survived by two sons: Freddie Noyola and his wife, Dora of Waelder, Texas, Johnny Luna of Hurricane, West Virginia, seven daughters: Debra Winkfield of Fort Worth, Texas, Brenda Tello of Schulenburg, Texas, Mary Alice Perez of Austin, Texas, Dora Murillo and her husband Tony of Austin, Texas, JoAnn Sanchez of Gonzales, Texas, Emily Castillo and her husband, Max og Gonzales, Texas, Anita Luna of Austin, Texas, one sister: Mary Velasquez and her husband, Santana of Waelder, Texas, twenty-two grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Pallbearers for Joe are: Roscellus Brown, Guadalupe Velasquez, Charlie Noyola, Dannie Noyola, Abelardo Ibarra, Jr., and Mike Caballero.
