Judith Sherry

Judith Marie (Gertner) Sherry, 72, of Moulton, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2019. She was born on December 10, 1946 in Moulton, to the late Julius and Leona Gertner. She graduated from Moulton High School and then attended nursing school in Hallettsville to pursue her passion of nursing, going on to become an LVN. She married her high school sweetheart, Claude "Red" Sherry on October 3, 1970. She worked in Houston for several years as a surgical nurse in Memorial Hermann Hospital. She then took a leave of absence to be a stay-at-home mom to her children. She did, however, return to nursing later in life after her children were grown, retiring from Shady Oaks Nursing Home in Moulton. Judy was a devout member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Moulton, helping with Vacation Bible School for many years and other church activities. She was also involved with the Junior American Legion and Women's American Legion Auxiliary. Her hobbies included sewing, bird watching, traveling, putting together puzzles, and she especially loved antiquing with friends. Most of all, she enjoyed time with her children and grandchildren, and her door was always open for friends and family in need. Survivors include her children, Lisa Schroeder and husband Robert of Shiner, Becky Indorf and husband David of Shiner; sister-in-law Linda Gertner of Victoria; sisters, Connie Motal and husband Thomas of Moulton, and Katherine Chapot of Austin; 3 granddaughters, Ashley Indorf, Anna Schroeder, and Bree Schroeder. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Belmar Gertner of Victoria, and brother-in-law Chaz Chapot of Austin.
