Lillie Dornak

September 23, 1924 — December 4, 2015

Lillie Mae Dornak Lillie Mae Pulkrabek Dornak, 91, of Moulton, entered her eternal life on Friday, December 4, 2015, surrounded by her family. She was born on September 23, 1924, in the Bauersville area east of Moulton to Anton and Mary Simcik Pulkrabek. She was the oldest of three children, and her siblings included her brother Anthony and sister Lorene. Lillie Mae attended the Bauersville School and graduated from the tenth grade in 1940. On October 12, 1946, she married the love of her life, Henry Dominic Dornak, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Moulton. The couple resided in the Bauersville community for their entire married life of nearly 69 years. In 1948 she and Henry began the Dornak Dairy, which operated for 62 continuous years, 32 under them and 30 under their son Marvin. Lillie was a faith-filled family woman, and her family will forever treasure the wonderful memories of the sweetest woman anyone could know. She loved to sew, bake bread, can and pickle, and delight her family with Sunday meals, cookies, cakes, and pies. She was such a skilled baker that her lemon meringue pie garnered Grand Champion honors at the Fayette County Fair. Of all the things she loved, though, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her absolute pride and joy. During the last few months especially, she couldn't wait for Sundays because that meant a house full of family, food, laughter, and domino games played late into the evening. Lillie was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, KJZT, and the Scotts Extension Homemakers. She was named Volunteer of the Year by Shady Oak Nursing Home in 1990. Lillie was preceded in death by her husband Henry, and survivors include her six children and eighteen grandchildren: Danny (children Lorne, Tanya, Jason, and Dean); Ivan (wife Kathy, children Shane, Michelle, and Selina); Peggie (husband Scott Sustr, children Niki, Ryan, and Dusty); Tommie Gene (wife Jamie, children Kristin, Kyle, and Matthew); Marvin (wife Kathy, children Melanie, Bradley, and Jill); and Sheri (husband Glenn Grohmann, children Misti and Kelby). Also surviving her are 20 great-grandchildren, three step great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law Lillie Migl Dornak of Robstown and Dorothy Charba Pulkrabek of Flatonia, and nieces, nephews, and cousins too numerous to name but not forgotten. Visitation will begin Monday, December 7, at 4 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Moulton. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday, December 8, at 6:30 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, December 9, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Gabriel Maison officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers include grandsons Jason Dornak, Shane Dornak, Dusty Wagner, Matthew Dornak, Bradley Dornak, and Kelby Grohmann. Lillie wanted to be remembered for her kindness and beautiful soul, and in her honor the family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice of South Texas, St. Michael's Catholic School in Weimar, St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Moulton, the Moulton Volunteer Fire Department, or the organization of one's choice. To join the family in celebrating a life well-lived, words of comfort and respect can be expressed at www.smithfuneralhomemoulton.com. Arrangements are in care of Smith Funeral Home, 404 West Bobkat, Moulton, 361-596-4631.
