Ludmila Wagner, 101, of Shiner passed away on November 30, 2008. She was born September 11, 1907 in Komensky, Texas to the late Joseph and Milada Zalman Darilek. She moved to the Dickson School area short after and attended grades 1-6. She then attended Moulton Catholic School for 2 years and went home on the weekends. She was raised on a farm with 3 brothers, 3 sisters and was the second oldest. On October 19, 1926, she married Frank C. Wagner from the Henkhaus Community. They moved onto a farm that he purchased from his father. They lived on this same farm for their entire married life and raised 3 sons and 1 daughter. They farmed cotton, corn, a garden, cattle and sheep. Their start in farming was done with horse drawn equipment and by hand. They provided a good life and environment for their children. Her husband Frank passed away on February 1, 1988. She continued to live on the farm until she was 98. In February 2007 she moved to Shady Oak Nursing Home where she lived the rest of her life. She was a member of SPJST and St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Moulton, Texas.
She is survived by 3 sons- Leroy Wagner of Shiner, Dennis Wagner of Manvel, and Eugene Wagner of Houston, 1 sister- Alice Didear of Corpus Christi, 11 grandchildren, and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband- Frank C. Wagner, daughter- Eugenia Behlen, daughter in law Laverne Wagner, 3 brothers- Armi, Adolph, and Albert Darilek, 2 sisters- Vlasta Effenberger and Millie Sralla.
Pallbearers: David, Jonathan, Jeremy and Andrew Behlen, Hunter and Taylor Bartay.
Visitation will begin 8am December 3, 2008 at Smith Funeral Home-Moulton. Rosary will be at 6:30pm December 3, 2008 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Moulton. Services will be at 3pm December 4, 2008 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Moulton with burial to follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery with Rev. James Nischan officiating.
