Martha Pavlas Pavlicek, age 98, of Moulton Texas passed away Wednesday April 8th, 2015.She was born February 27th, 1917 in Moulton to the late Willie J. and Albina Darilek Pavlas. She attended country school in Komensky graduating as salutatorian. Martha married Alfons Pavlicek in Praha, Texas in October 1939. Together they operated an open air dance pavilion called "Cotton Grove" - located near Moulton- in the late 40's and early 50's. They moved to Victoria for many years, returning to Moulton in 1970.She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, stepmother Anna Bohuslav Pavlas and brother George Pavlas of Moulton. She is survived by her daughter Joyce (Leslie) Beyer of Needville; son Jerry (Linda) Pavlicek of Victoria; brother Willie Pavlas of Schulenburg; sister-in-laws Vlasta Pavlas and Lexie Pavlicek of Moulton. Other survivors include her grandchildren: Les Beyer of Needville, Troy (Shari) Tait of West Columbia, Celeste (Aubrey) Stewart of Grapevine, and Melinda (Neal) Barkhurst of Rockport. Her great-grandchildren: Aaron (Sheridan) Weiser of Lampasas, Lauren Lumert of Grapevine, Sarah Weiser of Rockport and step great -grandchildren Brittney Foster of Houston and Miranda Stewart of Florida. She has one great-great-grand-child -Canton Weiser of Lampasas, and numerous nieces and nephews. Martha had a great love for anything "Czech" - polka music, food and refreshments. She especially liked and was very involved with helping and planning family reunions and her beloved Komensky School reunions. Special thanks to her neighbor Minnie Lee Fishbeck who helped in so many ways over the years and Ken Kolar Jr and his mother Lillian who were like family to her . Pallbearers will be: Les Beyer, Troy Tait, Aaron Weiser, William Pavlas, Melvin Pavlicek, and Ken Kolar Jr. Visitation will start at 5:30 pm Sunday, April 12, 2015 at the Smith Funeral Home with a rosary being recited at 6:30 pm. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am Monday, April 13, 2015 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church-Moulton with Father Gabriel Maison officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
