Marvin Rothbauer

Marvin John Rothbauer, 88, of Moulton passed away June 24, 2017. He was born July 27, 1928 on a farm outside of Moulton to John and Rosa Schoenfeld Rothbauer. Marvin was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and a member of the American Legion. He served in the army during the Korean War as an instructor of carpentry to troops in Missouri. He returned to Moulton and worked in the construction business for over fifty years, first with his father and later with his son. He married Rose Chilek on June 18, 1951 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Hochheim. His life centered on his family, hunting, fishing, and especially spending time with his four grandchildren and enjoying his seven great-grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Rose, his sons David Rothbauer and wife Lisa, Don Rothbauer and wife Jennifer all of Moulton. His grandchildren, Robin Branecky and husband Douglas of Flatonia, Chad Rothbauer and wife Angie, Wesley Rothbauer and wife Alisha, and Toby Rothbauer and wife Kay Lynn all of Moulton. Great-grandchildren include Kaylee Branecky, Brooke, Hailey and Tyler Rothbauer, Madison and Shelby Rothbauer, and Easton Rothbauer. Marvin is preceded in death by his parents and sister Irene Novosad. Pallbearers will be Wesley Rothbauer, Toby Rothbauer, Chad Rothbauer, Douglas Branecky, Ernie Novosad, and Darrell Rothbauer Visitation begins 10:00am Tuesday June 27, 2017 with the Rosary at 6:30 pm at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Moulton. Funeral Mass will be 10:00am Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Gabriel Maison officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
