Mattie Rosa Miller, 98, of Flatonia, Texas passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Oak Manor Nursing Center in Flatonia, Texas. Funeral Services are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home in Flatonia, Texas and will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flatonia, Texas with Father Eddie Winkler officiating. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Flatonia, Texas. Visitation will begin at 8:00 am on Friday, June 14, 2013 at Smith Funeral Home. Rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm on Friday, June 14, 2013 at Smith Funeral Home in Flatonia, Texas. Mattie was born January 1, 1915 in Westphalia, Texas. She was the daughter of John William and Elenore (Sonsel) Miller. Mattie loved to pray the Prayers from her Prayer Books. She liked to garden, play bingo, do the Word Find books and visit with family and friends. In her younger years, Mattie cared for several members of her family. Mattie was involved in helping charities doing volunteer work. Mattie was always ready to get on the nursing home bus for the day trips they would be taking. Mattie also helped others in the nursing home bringing their water and other drinks while they were at "Mattie's Cafe". Mattie was a member of the Sacred Heart Alter Society and Hermans Son Lodge #15. Mattie is survived by; one nephew; Sydney Spencer of Flatonia, Texas, three nieces; Janet Miller of Brenham, Texas, Ella Hurst of Smithville, Texas, Barbara San Miguel and her husband, Daniel of San Antonio, Texas, and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; John William and Elenore Miller, one brother; Herbert Miller and his wife, Lillian, one sister; Helen Miller Schoenweitz and her husband, Charlie and one niece; Patricia Spencer.
