Moulton- Michael Anthony Koranek, 57, went to be with the Lord on August 11, 2015 after a 5 year battle with cancer. Michael was born July 12, 1958 in Moulton, he graduated from Moulton High School in 1976. On September 20, 1980, he married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Beverley Jasek. They moved to Houston where he worked as a carpenter. Later he and his wife moved back to Moulton to start a family. In 1985, he accepted a job at the Bastrop Federal Prison where he later retired in 2010 after his diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. He leaves his wife of 34 years, Beverley Jasek Koranek; his 3 daughters, Kristi Koranek Thompson, spouse Ryan Thompson; Brittany Koranek; and Megan Koranek; 3 granddaughters, Addison, Alexa, and Aubree Thompson; mother, Ida Lee Koranek; 2 sisters, Laurie Whisnant, spouse Roy Whisnant; Kathy Koranek; 1 brother, Danny Wayne Koranek; and numerous other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Daniel Koranek; grandparents, nephews, Ross Jasek and Chris Prasek; and sister-in-law, Rose Jasek. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am Friday August 14, 2015 with a rosary being recited at 7:00 pm at Smith Funeral Home Moulton.
