Nancy Wood

Mrs. Nancy Marie Chude Wood age 76 of Waelder, Texas passed away March 30, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas, surrounded by family. Nancy was born in Houston, Texas on September 1, 1946, to the late Henry Chude and Rosalie Chude. She graduated from Needville High School in Needville, Texas, and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas at Austin.  Nancy then began her career in teaching and went on to marry Cecil R. Wood Jr. on April 11, 1970.  They would have celebrated their 53rd anniversary this year.  After her career teaching high school English, she worked in the family business providing bookkeeping and administrative support. Additionally, Nancy was a hard-working homemaker and mother of two sons, whose life was centered on family. She loved her church community, held dear her many friendships, and was an expert gardener. Nancy was known for her high energy and engaging smile.

Nancy was preceded in death by her father and mother, Henry Chude and Rosalie Chude.  Nancy is survived by her husband, Cecil R. Wood Jr. of Waelder, Texas; two sons, Clinton R. Wood (Brandi) of Harper, Texas and Craig R. Wood (Amanda) of Justin, Texas; three siblings, Susan Swonke of Magnolia, Texas, James Chude of Fredericksburg, Texas, and Charles Chude of Houston, Texas; and five grand-children, Carter, Cash, Cason, Camden and Cora Wood.

Funeral Services

Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Moulton, Texas, officiated by Father Gabriel Maison.
