Norman James Novosad, 89, of Edna, Texas, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Citizens Medical Center in Victoria, Texas. Norman was born on May 22, 1925 in Moulton, Texas. He was the son of Jim and Rosie (Tousek) Novosad. Norman joined the US Navy in 1943 and served 2 ½ years on the USS Wichita in Aviation Ordinance. He was awarded the Purple Heart for his service. He married Rosemary Wenske in 1979 and together they owned and operated "Mr. BBQ" restaurant in Bastrop and then Edna for close to 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. Norman is survived by his wife, Rosemary Novosad; three children, Norma Leeper and husband, David of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Marlon Novosad and wife, Deborah of Moulton, Texas, and Danae Kozelsky of Austin, Texas; one sister, Arminta Fehrenkamp and husband, Joe of Riverside, California; 6 grand-children and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Rosie Novosad; one sister, Gladys Novosad; and one infant brother, Oscar Novosad. Pallbearers are Joel Novosad, Jacob Novosad, Cliff Kozelsky, Brian Nieto, Steven Nieto, Chad Johnson, Shane Wenske and Brian Wenske. Honorary pallbearers- Bobby Wenske, Donald Stavinoha Memorial Service is under the direction of Smith Funeral Home in Moulton, Texas, and will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Moulton, Texas. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the Memorial Service.
