Beloved husband, father and grandfather….Has passed into the arms of Jesus, in peace. Guided always by his unwavering faith---he remained steadfast in it through all joy, struggle and suffering in life.
What he loved in life:
His family---Sunni, Keathe, Kim, and Ian. He dedicated himself to loving, providing and protecting them in all ways possible to him. Was further blessed by Keathe and George with beloved grandchildren Zoie, Zayli, Ozzi and Dovi.
Friends and colleagues who meant a great deal to him. His friends buoyed him in times of loss, celebrated with him in times of joy and provided so much laughter and happiness along the way. His colleagues inspired and taught him and he always enjoyed being part of an exploration team.
His work. He was a talented Geologist/Geophysicist—in his view, an ‘earth scientist’. He enjoyed a long and fruitful career, found actual joy in his work, and in the many people he worked with. He was dedicated to protecting the earth he chose to study, a consummate conservationist: he was the guy picking up other people’s trash on the beach, and he recycled before it was convenient.
Fishing. He was an intrepid fisherman...fished in ponds, rivers, lakes, bayous. He particularly loved fishing in Kosse Pond and in the surf.
His Church was a mainstay in his life, and he donated to and gave freely of himself as a volunteer in her varied missions—Eucharistic Ministry, Food Bank, Adult Formation, Social Services—cherished becoming a ‘fisher of men’ serving in RCIA and ACTS. He especially loved Mission trips to Eagle Pass with St. John Vianney, and helping with Lenten dinners and Church picnics at St. Joseph’s in Moulton. He supported numerous charitable causes beyond the Church throughout his life.
Funeral Services for Phil will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moulton Texas on February 24. A Rosary will be recited at 9:30 am, followed by the Funeral Mass at 10 am. Father Gabriel Maison, who has been a great source of strength to Phil and Sunni throughout his illness, will preside. A Reception in the Parish Hall will follow Mass, where memories of Phil may be shared.
The Hosemann family is very grateful to Father Troy Gately, Father Niall Nolan, and Father Gabriel Maison for the many ways they are woven into Phil’s life, and into our family tapestry, and for all the kind ways they have ministered to our family. And to all the Angels sent to us in times of our need.
In Christ’s Peace. May Perpetual Light Shine Upon Him.
