Richard Bullis

Richard Neil Bullis, 85, of Moulton, TX, passed away on November 23, 2018. He was born in Saginaw, Michigan, March 23, 1933 to Glenn and Kathryn (Hax) Bullis. Richard grew up in Saginaw, graduated from Michigan State University, served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1963 on both active and reserve status, and worked in business management until retiring in 1995. \ Richard married Margaret (Doerr) in 1957 and had four children, Susan (John) Bennett, R. Craig (Donna) Bullis, Daniel (Lisa) Bullis, and Donna (Jana) Bullis. Margaret passed away in 1991 after a lengthy illness. In 1992, Richard married Estalee (Gailey). In 1995 they moved to Moulton, TX. When asked, "Why Moulton?", their response was, "After spending many weekends in small cities around Texas, it was the people in Moulton who were the friendliest!" Richard served his community in many ways, including: Zion Lutheran Men in Mission, Moulton Volunteer Fire Department, Moulton Chamber of Commerce, Moulton Jamboree Pie Contest (22 years), and Moulton American Legion Post 392. He was also a Life Time Special Children's Committeeman for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister (Ann Straebel), and wives, Margaret (1991) and Estalee (2006). He is survived by his special friend and companion of 10 years, Katie Johnson; his four children; his grandchildren: Sara, Alicia, and Sam Bennett; Lauren, Richard, Jennifer, and Maureen Bullis; Robert and Ryan Bullis, and Jeremy (Amie) Binkley, Laurabeth (Bryan) Buck, and Christine (Anders) Binkley; and four great grandchildren: Emery and Gray Binkley, and Eleanor and Alice Buck. Richard enjoyed and was so very proud of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on December 1, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church, Moulton, TX, Pastor Herb Beyer will officiate. The family will have a private interment at a later date. Special thanks to Lavaca Medical Center (Hallettsville, TX) and Hospice of South Texas (Hallettsville, TX).
