Rita Okruhlik

Rita Marie Fajkus, 81, of Flatonia, Texas passed away July 8, 2017 in Flatonia, Texas. She was born March 24, 1936 in Praha, Texas to Joseph G. and Ottilie (Neskorik) Okruhlik. She was married to Emil Fajkus on July 30, 1957 at The Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Praha. Rita was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Praha, and a KJZT member for over 60 years. She had fond memories of her childhood, including walking to school in Praha, and helping her parents daily on the farm by taking care of the livestock and crops. She was a devoted and loving Wife and Mother. She was deeply loved and will be missed by her family and all that knew her. Her life was hard at times, but she always found joy in her family and grandchildren She is survived by her sons Robert Fajkus and wife Tracy of Flatonia, and Earl Fajkus and Marilyn of Dallas, and eight grandchildren. Rita is preceded in death by her parents and husband. Visitation is scheduled for 10:00 am Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Flatonia. Rosary will be recited 9:30 am with Funeral Mass following at 10:00 am Thursday, July 13, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Praha. Burial will follow at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Praha with Father Gabriel Maison officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes contributions to be made as a mass in memory of Rita Fajkus to St. Mary's Catholic Church 821 FM 1295 Flatonia, TX 78941.
