Robert Samuel Meyer, fondly called Sam by his Moulton friends and family, passed from this Earth on Saturday, September 27, 2025. He was born February 8, 1930, in Moulton, Texas to JL and Evie (Parker) Meyer. Sam was the youngest son of a family of 4 boys and 3 girls. He grew up ranching with his father JL and raising turkeys with his mother Evie. He joined the US Navy when he was 18 and spent all of his time on the West Coast and the Western Pacific, reaching the rank of Quartermaster 2nd Class Petty Officer. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
He became known as Robert after moving from Moulton. He attended the University of Houston for a time being. In 1952 Robert met the love of his life, Fay Lee and they were united in marriage in October 1952. Robert and Fay raised three boys, Frank, Don and Kenneth in Stafford, Texas. Robert worked as a machinist at W-K-M for many years, while spending his free time co-founding and helping run Stafford's VFW Post 4010 as a lifetime VFW member. Robert served as the VFW District 16 Commander in the 1970's. He also was active in the Booster Club at Dulles High School where his sons played football, basketball and baseball.
When his boys joined the Navy, Robert and Fay moved back to Moulton for several years to run an upholstery shop and spray foam insulation company. They returned to Stafford to finish out their careers.
Robert was Fay's caretaker for over 10 years while she suffered from Lewy Body Dementia. She left this world in 2011, but Robert carried on in their house, caring for his three dogs, Buddy, Little Girl and Guy.
Robert is preceded in death by his father, mother, six siblings and his loving wife of 59 years. He is survived by his sister-in-law Rosie Meyer of Schulenburg, three sons and their wives, seven grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Burial services will be at the Moulton City Cemetery at 10:00 am Saturday, October 11, 2025. In lieu of flowers, a donation to The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation & Institute would be appreciated.
