Rose Rothbauer

Rose Rothbauer, age 87, of Moulton, Texas passed away peacefully at her home, on Tuesday, December 29, 2020. She was born March 12, 1933 in Dreyer, Texas to Rudy and Edna Wentworth Chilek. She married Marvin Rothbauer on June 18, 1951 at St. Ann's Church in Petersville. Rose worked at Tex Tan in Yoakum for over 30 years. She enjoyed working in her yard with her plants and flowers and enjoyed sharing her beautiful flowers with family, friends and neighbors. She truly had a "green thumb". The loves of her life were her four grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren. She enjoyed being a part of their lives and was thrilled when the little ones came by for ice cream after school. She was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Altar Society of Moulton. Her faith and her church meant a great deal to her. She assisted at church functions in any way she could. Survivors include sons David Rothbauer (Lisa) of Moulton, Texas; Donald Rothbauer (Jennifer) of Moulton, Texas; grandchildren, Robin Branecky (Douglas) of Flatonia, Chad Rothbauer (Angela) of Moulton, Wesley Rothbauer (Alisha) of Moulton, and Toby Rothbauer (KayLynn) of Moulton. Great-grandchildren; Kaylee Branecky, Brooke, Hailey and Tyler Rothbauer, Madison and Shelby Rothbauer, and Easton Rothbauer. Sisters Edna Mae Bradley of Tomball, Texas and Helen Jalufka of Hallettsville, Texas; She is preceded in death by her husband Marvin Rothbauer, Sisters Clara Kasparek, Dorothy Mylius, and Lorene Matula, and brothers Rudy and Jerry Chilek. Pallbearers will be Chad Rothbauer, Wesley Rothbauer, Toby Rothbauer, Douglas Branecky, Jeffery Matula and Paul Mylius. A visitation for Rose will be held Friday, January 1, 2021 from 3:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Smith Funeral Home in Moulton, Texas. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private service will take place Saturday with a memorial service to be held at a later date.
