Susan Elizabeth (Fike) Steinhauser Sue was born April 26, 1958 to James Covellar (J.C.) Fike, Jr. and Bessie (Maresh) Fike in Houston, Texas. The youngest of three children, she was her daddy's little princess. In 1966, at the age of eight, her family moved to Moulton after her father passed away. She graduated from Moulton High School and attended Victoria College to become a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Sue was a dedicated and compassionate nurse; she especially loved helping the elderly and the home bound, practicing all over Lavaca, Fayette and Colorado counties as a home health nurse for many years. Sue married Randy J. (R.J.) Steinhauser, February 9, 1991 in Flatonia and together raised one son, Karl Josef Steinhauser. After adopting their son, Sue decided to stay at home and be a full-time mom, something she dreamt of her entire life. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, she spent much of her time caring for her mother, Bessie. Sue, with her family, was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church; she was a lector, a Catholic Daughter, on the board of Rafael's Refuge and very involved with ACTS. She was a member of the Women's Action Guild and ran the Czhilispiel chili cook-off for 20 years. Sue lived life to the fullest and everything she did, she did it with passion and purpose. She never met a stranger, loved animals and had such a generous and loving soul. After enduring heart issues for many years, in 2008, she received an amazing gift, a new heart. Sue then became a powerful and courageous advocate for Donate Life. She volunteered at health fairs, spoke to civic organizations and donated money to raise awareness of the importance of organ donation. Sue was a beautiful example of faith and charity. Sue was preceded in death by her father, J.C. Fike, her brother, James Allen Fike and her great nephew, Jackson Allan Hooper of Schulenburg. Sue is survived by her loving husband, Randy J.
