Wilma Anna (Wieting) Ducho passed peacefully unto God's grace Thursday morning, May 30, 2024. She was born July 25, 1935, to Alma (Flessner) Wieting and Willie Wieting of Shiner, Texas.
She grew up working on the farm with her siblings Marion, Henry, Wilfred, and Doris and was a basketball star in high school. After graduating, she headed to Houston where she met and married her soul mate, Edgar Ducho. Throughout their 67 years of marriage, Wilma and Ed were the ultimate duo. They shared their lives as one, like so few are Blessed with from working side by side at their Steakhouse and their homes to adventures playing golf, going on Caribbean cruises and their motorhome trips to Vegas.
They were a respected, hardworking couple who were very generous, sponsoring the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for several years, as well as VIPs for Wilma’s favorite baseball team, the Astros.
Wilma was most known for her style and class, always dressed beautifully in her bright-colored tops with a contagious smile or giggle and open arms for a great big hug. And to go along with that it was only fitting that she was one of the founding owners of The Bridal Rail in Moulton, Texas.
Wilma loved entertaining and hosting family and friends, and with Ed beside her - their cooking was hard to beat. They were famous for their award-winning gumbos, chili’s, beans, salads, dump cakes and Wilma most of all, for her Christmas cookies.
Once retired and moved proudly into their home in Gonzales, they continued to spend each day side by side, as they had throughout their lives living a Faithful, Christian life.
Wilma was a joyful, fun-loving woman and her presence will be missed immensely by so many.
The honor of carrying Wilma to her final resting place beside Ed will be: Julius Bartek, Michael Darilek, Grant Wieting, Hank Wieting, Jarrett Wieting, John Wieting, Russell Wieting and Scott Wieting.
A visitation for Wilma will be held Wednesday, June 5th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Moulton, Texas. A rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, June 6th at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moulton, Texas followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Father Gabriel Maison. Burial will follow in the Moulton City Cemetery.
